College fund for the children of James Barnes

About James Barnes

James Barnes worked at Peace Corps since 2008 as an IT Specialist supporting Posts in the EMA and IAP regions. His work with Peace Corps International IT specialists involved technical troubleshooting in many remote time zones, as well as technical training of IT Specialists at HQ. James spent weeks at post deploying the GSS (Magellan) system in Tonga, Samoa, Bulgaria, Romania, Senegal, and The Gambia, and talked frequently about the friends and experiences made at post.

James was a devoted father to his beautiful twin children, Addison and Jacob, and always brightened at the prospect of telling about their recent antics. Addison, a girl, and Jacob, a boy, are about to turn five, but according to James they were as precocious as kids twice their age.

The care James showed for his International colleagues was eclipsed only by his love of his twins, so earlier this year James made the decision to move to the domestic support team in order to be based close to them without traveling.

James passed away unexpectedly on January 29th, just days before his beloved New York Giants would go on to win the Super Bowl. With only pictures and stories for his twins to remember him by, it is important to his Peace Corps friends and colleagues to insure that these cherished children have the opportunity to receive a quality education. All funds collected will go to a college fund for Jacob and Addison.

children of James Barnes, have been approved as applicants to the Peace Corps Emergency Relief Fund.
